This story is from the book 'The World Full of Animal Tales' retold by Angela McCalister.
In this epic tale of adventure, magic and love a woodcutter gives his daughter away to marry a bear who turns out to be a prince under the spell of a witch.
The daughter loses the trust of the prince and he flees sending the daughter on a great adventure to find him in the castle of faith.
On her travels she meets three wizards who gift her nuts, but will she find the prince and can they break the curse?
After listening to this story consider the following:
1- Pop on your boots and a coat and head out into the cool autumn air- can you find the three trees in the story and their nuts?
2- The story has many examples of 'transformation'- if you could transform to any other creature what would it be and why?
3- The prince has a spell to transform: "Prince so handsome, prince so charming turn into a bear so fierce and alarming". Once you have decided which creature you would like to be write a short spell of your own!
