In this session we create some stylish miniature Christmas Trees that can be displayed however you want over the festive period, use them as a table centrepiece, display them in your window or simply show them on a shelf. With very few materials these make lovely decorations for all the family to craft.
Items needed:
PVA glue & I used a jam jar lid to pour it into,
Twine (or any thick yarn like string or wool),
Citrus peel (from an orange/lemon/grapefruit or variation of these), Loo roll inners, Elastic bands (or a way of securing you could also use tape),
Empty bread bag (remember to recycle at your local supermarket afterwards),
Scissors. Optionals:
Hole punch (scissors can also do this part),
Tube - to lengthen the cones, I used a table salt tub (hunt in cupboards/bathroom or the recycling bin to see if you have something suitable) and worst case you can lengthen them with more cardboard inners.
Jam jar lid for the glue Recommended: Apron, Wipeable surface to work on,
Damp cloth nearby for gluey fingers!

Whilst using this resource to inspire learning, know you are helping you and your family's wellbeing by:
2) Keep Learning -find creative ways to recycle, up-cycle and reuse objects in your home. Extending the life of objects means that they stay in the use-loop longer and often prevent more objects being purchased without need
3) Be Mindful- Set the scene. Calming music in the background or low level music. Let your family experience being in the flow of things when making and crafting. This can be aided by making sure each person has what they need to make something - preparation steps all done ready. This way they have a better chance of being able to really get into what they are doing and free up creative space in their minds
4) Practice Kindness- making things with family and children usually requires patience and kindness - be kind enough to give yourselves plenty of time to do them in.
5) Think Community - Share your fabulous outcomes with your community, post them online to inspire others in future, and remember to keep them for next year.
I love this idea! Thanks so much...we will have a go at this over the weekend :)
