Before you begin this session please read and listen to our Introduction to Yoga with We Be Kids. Do not listen to this relaxation whilst operating machinery or driving.
Enjoy this whole body warm fuzzies relaxation with your family. It links in with The Warm Fuzzy Story and three tutorials on how to make Warm Fuzzies (Warm Fuzzies II & Warm Fuzzies III). It's a lovely relaxation to do with your family when you all need benefit from a moment of calm. Pushing the soothing reset button is just as important and necessary for everyone's physical and mental wellbeing as physical activity is, take some time together to rest.
Focusing on positive memories and linking them to a bodily action (pressing your fingers and thumb together) whilst you fill your whole body with the warm fuzzy feeling can help release oxytocin (a relaxing and calming hormone) into the body. Over time and with practice you can also retrieve this warm feeling at any time simply by pressing your thumb and fingers together.
Whilst using this yoga resources to inspire learning, you are boosting you and your family's wellbeing in the following ways:
3) Be Mindful- notice how you feel at the start of the practice and how you feel at the end.
4) Practice Kindness- If this is the first time you have practiced a relaxation with your family, encourage them to settle and listen. Know that younger ones may fidget and move throughout - know that this is ok, respond with kindness and let them do what they need to do. We all relax in different ways. They may not know how to express that they are not yet ready to relax in the same way as we do.
5) Think Community -Whilst you can of course practice this session alone too, practice with your community - eg your family or family of friends. Share this resource with others if you find it beneficial.
