This resource is a basic introduction to what yoga nidra (yogic sleep) and meditation are for parents. Whilst they have slightly differing aims there are also similarities between them. Here at We Be Kids Yoga we take a trauma sensitive approach to our yoga and recommend that you try these relaxing options as a way of giving balance to our busy and often stressful ways of life.
Whilst using this yoga resource, know you are helping you and your family's wellbeing like this:
2) Keep Learning - Yoga is not just the physical practice where we seemingly make 'shapes' with our bodies but a wider approach that includes a physical practice that encourages to think about what our bodies can actually do right now (versus what the pictures say it 'should' do) in the knowledge that that will change every single time you practice. Yoga is also using our voices for sounds and chants, paying extra attention to breath and learning how that can help us in our everyday, meditation - which can help us check in with what is going on in our lively minds and much much more, all components with practice over time can help us help ourselves.
3) Be Mindful- We are all on our journey through life and on our own paths, take time to notice this resource as an opportunity to learn more about your own needs if you would like to.
4) Practice Kindness- In yoga only ever practice with kindness to yourself - EVERY practice is different and our bodies will feel the postures differently every time. Yoga should never hurt. Look after yourself - there is only one of you.
5) Think Community - We look forward to your responses in the comments below.
